Stories that stay with you
Because some endings deserve another beginning.
These are stories about grief and hope, friendship and desire, ordinary lives and extraordinary love. Stories that ask what happens when we stop living by everyone else's rules and finally begin listening to our own hearts.
That, to me, feels like Firehearts.
It isn't selling a location.
It isn't selling you.
It isn't even selling a genre.
It's selling the emotional experience a reader is about to have.
And that's the strongest promise an author can make.

Behind the Stories
I never set out to become a novelist.
In 2002, while lecturing at university, I had a vivid dream that refused to leave me alone. That dream became my first novel, Fracture, which went on to win an award in 2012 before finding its way into major bookstores throughout New Zealand and onto Amazon.
More than twenty years later, life handed me a very different story.
After the death of my husband in 2024, I wasn't looking for another book. I was simply trying to find my way through grief. Then three unforgettable characters arrived almost fully formed. Jessie, a widow learning to live again. Nate, a successful businessman whose steady confidence hides his own vulnerabilities. And Jay, a former psychologist, cook and passionate gardener whose quiet wisdom changes both of their lives.
I didn't create them so much as meet them.
Together they became The Tide Inside Her, a novel about grief, hope, chosen family, and the possibility that love can take forms far richer and more unexpected than we ever imagined.
If my books have a common thread, it's this: even after life's deepest losses, there is still room for laughter, connection, and extraordinary new beginnings.
